I had my Chiari Decompression surgery on February 14, as scheduled. I’m not really up to putting a lot of words together to form a coherent thoughts, so this post won’t be very long. I’ll let you skip the whining about the pain and the doctor’s indifference to it, as well as all the sweet people who came to see me and / or brought flowers or chocolates. Instead, I present two photographs.
This first one is of my hair after taking clippers to it at my party the Saturday before, taken with my work friend, Rex, who was kind enough to let me borrow his leather jacket so I could really go for “badass” in the photo. (I think I’m still missing photos from the party, please send them to my gmail if you have any)
And last, but not least, is my zipperhead, a day or two after the surgery.
Hopefully, I’ll have the mental stamina soon to write out the full story about the shunt for the spinal fluid, and the blood patch that I had to have to fix a hole in my dura membrane.

Hi! Glad you came through surgery just fine! Happy Healing!
I am hosting a chiari blog carnival (a community of bloggers that post on a specific topic related to chiari and publish their posts at the same time). We are hosting the first chiari blog carnival on the same day as Rare Disease Day, February 29, 2012. If you are interested in joining us for the blog carnival please email me at shalunya@live.com.
